Svavar Gestsson (1944 - 2021) was an Icelandic politician, parliamentary member and minister for social affairs. One of the last projects he took on was to head a committee that was supposed to deal with debts after the fall of the Icesave accounts in the Netherlands and UK. This was certainly a trial and caused a great turmoil in Icelandic society which some politicians tried to make good use of in their favor. Here Svavar reveals how the negotiations with the Netherlands and UK really went and what went down.
